 God Demands Holiness

"Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name: bring an offering, and come before Him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness."

As I read passages like this, I feel such an awesome and wonderful reverence for the Almighty God, our Lord and creator, our King.  He is truly worthy of all praise, honor, and glory, for He alone stood upon the mountains to form all that has been formed, both in heaven and in the earth.  His majesty cannot be duplicated by any other, and His kingdom shall never come to an end.

God gave Adam dominion over all of the creation, authority which has not been since replicated.  Adam, however, forfeited this authority in his disobedience to God's commands.  Adam was created in God's image, not in the sense of fleshly or physical attributes, but in the image of God's holiness.  And it was, after man fell into such sinful disrepair, that God attempted to restore them back unto Himself by the institution of the Mosaic Law.  Unfortunately, it did not accomplish the heart of God, for it did only addressed the problem from the surface and not from within.  In it were ordinances that cleaned the outside of the platter, but inside man remained an accumulation of dead men's bones.

"Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy:
for I am the LORD your God"

God knew that the blood of bulls, goats, and other sacrifices would not cleanse the conscience of man, therefore there would remain in him a heart which was separate from God's heart.  The only way to redeem man was to offer the blood of the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ, for man's eternal salvation.  God, after the resurrection of Christ from the grave, sent the promise of the Holy Ghost to lead and guide His children into truth and victory.

Jesus did not die just to give us a reason to continue abiding in weakness.  Had this been the extent of His purpose on the earth, it would all have been in vain.  Jesus Christ is no longer in the grave.  His resurrection demonstrated that He had truly been given power over all that of the enemy, and that power would be transferred to us via the Holy Ghost.

"O death, where is thy sting?
O grave, where is thy victory?

Contrary to what some may believe, the Holy Ghost was not given just so that we could speak in other tongues or perform some great miracles.  When Jesus said "ye shall receive power", He was referencing our ability to go into the world and provide testimonies concerning Him.  John 1:11-13 reads "He came unto His own, but His own received Him not.  But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

O, WHAT A POWERFUL DECLARATION!  That we could be restored, reconciled back unto the place where Adam first abided as true sons of God (Luke 3:38).  O, what an awesome concept, that we could have our names written in the Book of Life by the blood of the sacrificed Lamb.  O, what a privilege that has been afforded us, to be able to access the throne of His grace to receive strength and help in our times of need.

The cry of God's heart for our generation is that we return unto Him with all our hearts, hungry and thirsty for His righteousness.  All who come unto Him in this manner shall surely be filled with the power they need to sustain and to keep them during these perilous times.  It is time that we come to realize that there is no other deliverance outside of that we receive from Him.  There is no greater peace afforded us than that which we receive as we abide in His tabernacle.  There is no joy that can compare with that which we possess as heirs of God, joint heirs with Jesus Christ, made and fashioned in His image, the image of Holiness.

"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
