New Direction Worship Center was birthed from God's vision of restoration and revival for residents of the Bryan TX area. The Lord placed the burden upon Bro. Ken and Sis. Faye Smith to relocate from Lake Charles LA to Bryan TX and to establish a place of prayer, praise, and worship. And, while there are many churches in this area, there remains an abundance of "unchurched" among them. The Lord gave a building located at 1104 E. MLK Jr. to the ministry and labeled it as their "Genesis", for this is just the beginning of many greater things to come.
"Therefore said He unto them, the harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest." Luke 10:2
We're driven by the philosophy that God wants to reconcile the world back unto Himself through the love of Jesus Christ that we exhibit to others. We're always mindful of the two greatest commandment: To love the Lord, our God, with all our hearts, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. There can be no greater commandment given, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to redeem a people unto Himself.
We have a vision to provide needy assistance to area residents with spiritual as well as natural food. Jesus declared that "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4) There are plans for greater neighborhood outreach, especially into those areas affected by substance abuse and moral decay.
"And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world,
and preach the gospel to every creature....
And these signs shall follow them that believe"
It is our prayer that God intervene on behalf of those who are physically, financially, emotionally, socially, and spiritually challenged. The enemy came to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life, and that more abundantly. We are not here to condemn anyone, even those who are bound in trespasses and sin, but to bring hope and life to their otherwise dark and dreary existence.
It is our goal to put pressure on the kingdom of darkness, commanding it to release the children of God, and to relinquish it's strongholds upon their lives. We intend to do so by continual prayer and fasting unto God for the manifestation of His will in the earth. There are spirits that have powerful influence over certain regions, and these can not be broken except through prayer and fasting.
"God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." 2 Corinthians 5:19-20
The journey began from a vision in July 2001, and the work is ongoing.
