"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up"
I shall never forget how my grandparents watched over our house when my father and mother were not at home. I can still call to remembrance how "big ma" sat on her porch with those eagle eyes, examining each and every move that we made. It is still fresh in my memory how the church mothers chastised us for misbehavior, and then told my mother so that I could get another whipping when I got home. Many of us applauded the modernization of times, not realizing what lied ahead.
We have blamed our politicians for allowing prayer to be taken out of public schools, when the real problem is that we stopped praying at home first. We have blamed various anti-Christian groups for cultivating and spreading immoral lifestyles, while we sat idly and silently by. We have blamed Hollywood and it's extremely promiscuous portrayals as the culprit who led our children astray, while we didn't take the time to talk with them during their stages of vulnerability.
To my knowledge, each TV sold in America has an On-Off switch. If I am not mistaken, each of them has channel selectors to give us freedom of choice over what our children are being exposed to. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there still educational and gospel channels available for our viewing? Hmmm.
"For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge"
Our children are dying from a famine of the word of God. It seems like each generation is being exposed to less and less of Gods nutrition, while sinful infections and diseases are setting in. I am saddened each time a young unwed daughter becomes pregnant. My heart cries for each young male who cannot find gainful employment because he has the equivalency of a 3rd grade reading level. Math and science skills are gone out the window and have been replaced with rock cocaine and other harmfully addictive drugs.
I can almost hear His voice as He cries "I am the way, the truth, and the life." I can almost feel the anguish of heart as He groaned in His spirit at the death of His dear friend Lazarus. Even the prophet Jeremiah lamented "Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!" When are we going to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the ONLY answer to the ills of our society.
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children"
It's time for us to seriously return to the godly principles that once brought mighty deliverance among us. It's time for us to realize that our fleshly solutions have only made matters worse, and that outside of God, there will be no deliverance. It's time to aggressively pursue those whom God is calling into His kingdom, snatching them from the grips of the enemy.
For many, this message may sound a bit "one-tracked", and maybe it is, but we need to awaken the sleeping giant resting inside of the people of God. We need to call the people of God to action, and to stop allowing the devil to steal our homes, our children, our streets, our schools, and yes, even our churches. God would love nothing better than a "Holy Ghost Revolution" to break out in our neighborhoods, but it would have to start within us.
Let us stop making excuses to continue accepting the status quo', and let's start changing the landscape around us. We've got to get back on our knees in prayer until God gives us the deliverance that we need. We should not settle for anything less than the fullness of His anointing in our lives, and not allow compromise to minimize the effectiveness of our witness in the earth. This generation needs to know the "REAL" God before it's too late, and it's our responsibility to present Him to them, wherever they are.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land"
